Let’s do a self check-in.
At this moment, how are you really feeling? Are you feeling all over the place? Tired and burnt out?
In the middle of a hectic week, feeling overworked and underutilized?
Our world is cluttered with information overload, social media #bliss posts that never stop, and work that keeps us in front of screens for 12 hours a day
You’re not alone in this. Our work-life-sleep balance is off.
See, we all know that sleep is necessary for physical and mental health but very few understand how important it actually is.
Sleep deprivation is like alcohol intoxication. 50-70 million people suffer from it and its effects like high blood pressure, heart diseases, anxiety, hypertension, strokes, etc. 😓
But why are we sleeping so badly?
...Because sleep isn’t just sleep time.
It is affected by what you do when you’re awake.
Crazy but true.
And this is where blue light comes in.
So what’s blue light?
Blue light is basically blue wavelengths that exist in natural light, ie, the sun. It is beneficial because it boosts attention, reaction time, and mood - keeping us active during the day.
In earlier times, when the sun went down 🌙, the world became dark, the body’s circadian rhythm ran smoothly, melatonin kicked in, putting our body to sleep.
But now, we have blue light coming from artificial sources, like phones, tablets, laptops 🤳. So your body doesn’t realize when the sun is down, doesn’t secrete melatonin like it needs to, thus lowering your sleep quality.
In a study, Harvard researchers put 10 people on a schedule that shifted their circadian rhythms. As a result, their blood sugar levels increased, throwing them into a prediabetic state, and levels of leptin went down.
So you see my point?
So, do blue light glasses actually help?
In a study, University of Houston researchers found that participants wearing blue glasses showed about a 58% increase in their night-time melatonin levels.
So yes, they help.
At Kooper Eyewear, our +Blue Light® technology blocks up most of the strongest blue light wavelengths reducing stress in the eye’s ciliary muscle. Our blue light glasses are designed for students, office workers, and gamers who sit in front of a computer all day.
Sleep like a baby again.
